And with that, the Dems lose in 2008

I am a life long, die-hard Democrat. With that in mind, I’d like to personally thank Hillary Clinton for ensuring that the Republicans will win in 2008.

We donkeys have been patiently waiting for Obama to announce his candidacy.  He’d have his work cut out for him, being of mixed heritage and so young, but we all felt that he just might be able to pull it off. He’s got a head on his shoulders and his mind is in the right place. We were excited. We were anxious. Then it finally happened.

A few days later, Hillary Clinton pops up in a video on her website announcing her intention to run for President in 2008, and all of our hearts sank. Here’s why. The left’s adoration of Mrs. Clinton is eclipsed only by the right’s abhorrence of her. She’ll win the Democratic nomination because of the former, and lose the election becasue of the latter.

If the resulting Republican president is even remotely better than Bush (and I think we all agree-Democrats and Republicans alike-that a turnip would do a better job than George W Bush has done), he’ll win re-election easily. That will make Obama a two-time loser, and he’ll be all washed up.

So thanks a lot, Mrs. Clinton. You’ve ruined everything, and set us up for sixteen straight years of a Republican White House. If you really, truly loved the Democratic party, you would have kept you big mouth shut.

  1. I honestly believe there’s no chance she gets out of the primary. I think the distaste for her spills out into her own party. I really do.

  2. Brian:

    Here’s hoping your right.

  3. You might ask me not to read your blog after this but I’m excited about the prospect of this particular female candidate. (I’m one of those adoring Clinton fans.) Obama is fantastic. If he had a few more years under his belt, I’d be behind him one hundred percent. But I don’t think he has near enough clout to get the kinds of things done that need to be done. Granted, Hillary is polarizing, but she’s got the prestige, the ambition, the experience, and the smarts to do the job, and do it well.
