On maintaining multiple blogs

Posted in Work on January 10, 2007 by kaylow

The other day friend of mine wrote to me to ask about how I keep up with blogging for Daddy Daze and The Parenting Post, as he’s about to begin a similar arrangement himself. I sent him my answer earlier this evening, and thought I’d share the jist with all of you. It’s not anything that’s going to change the world, but it has been working for me.

First, does anyone else think that the hand in the following photo looks a little too perfect? Am I the only one who thinks it’s a CGI hand?

Is there any greater joy?

I had a lousy day at work, and arrived home exhausted and defeated. All I wanted to do was sink into the couch, switch off and absorb some mindless TV. As I sat there, my daughter appeared in front of me wearing her Cinderella dress-up costume. "Well, hello, Cinderella," I managed to get out.

"Hello, prince," she said.

And suddenly I felt perfect.

If you don’t own a copy of "O" by Damien Rice [iTunes link] your existence is not as good as it could be. Like Natalie Portman said in Garden State, this album will change your life.

In fact, I’m so eager to share it, that I’ll gift a copy from iTunes to the first person who requests it via a comment to this post. Congratulations to Jonathan. Enjoy.

Spirited Away makes your Mac less distracting

Posted in Work on January 7, 2007 by kaylow

Computers are great tools for getting things done and generally being productive. They’re also used for fun, like photos, music, movies and more. It can be tempting to abandon that article you’re writing so that you can play with that website that’s behind your word processor. Next thing you know, you’ve blown twenty minutes. You need Spirited Away.

There are no more babies in this house

So last weekend I took the kids to get haircuts. I know I’ve mentioned it before,
but I’ll say it again: We go to the coolest salon around.
